摘 要:近几个世纪以来,古代典籍核心词汇翻译不当致使中国文化在西方经受了不同程度的误读,导致中西文化交流中中国文化失语及文化身份嬗变。本文以《论语》的核心词"仁"的翻译为例,分析了"仁"的翻译不当导致了儒家核心思想及孔子形象在西方遭受了不同程度的扭曲、变形及误读,在此基础上指出应以异化翻译策略为指导,结合使用音译法和综合性注释法来翻译古代典籍核心词汇,以在中西文化交流中逐步建立中国文化话语体系,减少西方对中国的文化误读。Over the past few centuries, with improper translation of the key words in ancient Chinese books and records into Western languages, the Chinese culture has been unfortunately misunderstood to various degrees in the West, as has resulted in China' s loss of cultural voice and transmutation of cultural identity in the international cultural exchange. This paper, based on a discussion of the misunderstandings of the core ideas of Confucianism and the distortions of the image of Confucius resul- ting from inappropriate translation of "^-'"(Renism) as a key word in The Analects ((~,~'~), proposes that the translation strategy of foreignization and the methods of transliteration and synthetic annotation should be adopted to render the key words in ancient Chinese books and records into Western languages so that in the cultural exchange between the West and China the Chinese cultural discoursal system could be gradually established, and the Westerners' misconceptions of the Chinese culture could be eradicated by degrees.
