On the Educational Demands of the Migrant-Worker Families in the Wulingshan Area——Based on a Survey in Guzhang County of Xiangxi,Hunan

摘  要:教育与经济的悖论源于贫困地区人才逆向流动的现实,然而从国家第一个连片开发的武陵山片区外出务工者的调研表明,务工是短期、直接、表面收益,教育是长期、间接、根本收益;优先发展教育甚至是教育第一发展是贫困地区根本改变落后状态的必然选择,现在是,将来也是。教育与经济相互促进,导致理论上出现教育与经济的悖论可能的原因是过分注重短期效益、直接效益、表面效益。There are two kinds of relationships between education and economics. One is positive,and is that education and economics mutually promote each other. The second one is negative and is that education and economics obstruct each other. This paradox between education and economics is mainly due to the reality of a reverse flow of talents in poverty areas,that is,a poverty area becomes poorer when its education develops. According to this viewpoint,it seems that the first poverty reduction pilot zone —i. e. the Wuling Mountain area—needs to slow down its education development,and re-examine the priority policy for education development. However,the leaders or general cadres who have engaged in poverty reduction work for a long time always say," Training a college student will help one family get rid of poverty ". What makes the disconnect between the theory and reality? What makes education 's effect on poverty reduction so obvious? Through the survey statistics of Guzhan County,Xiangxi Prefecture of Hunan ,as well as looking at our initial premise,we find the following differences: 1. Originally we assumed that to be a migrant worker is good for the families,but the survey shows that there is no alternative choice for them because "they failed in entering a college,and have no proper work in the local area ". In other words,the initiating factor for being a migrant worker is not obvious. Although expensive school fees are also one important reason for being a migrant worker,the people in the poverty areas still maintain the viewpoint that learning in school isuseful,and it is their strongest desire. 2. It is true that migrant workers can get direct benefits which confirms our former premise . However,this is only if we do a vertical comparison of benefits. If we do a horizontal comparison, we find that the direct benefits were much lower. This is because those migrant workers can only engage in low-level technical work. Therefore,it shows that it is necessary for them to get a higher education,i
