摘 要:本文对Chomsky生成语言理论的发展进行相应分期,并对不同时期的经典著作进行研读,发现:generate这个术语基本上保持了其原初的集合论内涵,但与之相关的术语generative(grammar)则随着生成语言学理论模式的不断发展表现出相应的变化。在集合论阶段,generative的主要意义为recursive,但同时预设explicit、rigorous等含义;心理生物论阶段前期,explicit这层含义被大力凸显并赋予了新的内涵,而recursive义则被压制;心理生物论阶段后期,generative原初的recursive义又重新被凸显。In order to explore the original meanings of ' generate ' and ' generative grammar '— two essential notions of generative linguistics — and examine the conceptual changes they have under~ gone , we divided the development of Chomskys generative linguistics into three phases.After studying the landmark literature of each phase , we found that the term ' generate ' is borrowed from set theory and for the past fifty years and more , its original meaning remains largely unchanged.The conceptual configuration of ' generative grammar ', however , has varied with the shifts in theoretical models of generative linguistics : in the phase based on set theory , ' generative ' mainly meant ' recursive ', while presupposing ' explicit ',' rigorous ', etc. ; in the phase in which linguistics follows a psycho-biological orientation , the ' explicit ' facet of ' generative ', which was emphasized and accorded new connotations in the first stage of this period , has now been replaced by the facet of ' recursive ' again.
