摘  要:吴宓是我国现代比较文学教育和研究的先驱。他根据中国传统儒家文化、美国新人文主义和现代文化保守主义的思想内核,提出大学应认真荟萃古希腊文明、基督教文化、中华儒学和印度佛学理论菁华,辩证取舍东西方教育教学方法,努力造就会通中西的"博雅之士",初步形成了一个包含教育目标、教育内容和教育方法等具有内在逻辑关系的大学教育思想体系。这一体系对我们今天坚持教育"三个面向"的方针,加强通识教育和素质教育,培养一代新人仍有较大的借鉴价值。Wu Mi as a pioneer in the research and education of modern comparative literature had a thorough knowledge of both western and Chinese learning,and the ancient and modern learning.During his 50-year career,he taught at Nanjing Higher Normal School,Tsinghua University,Peking University,Wuhan University and Southwest Normal College in succession,and engaged himself in the preparations of School of Chinese Classics and Department of Foreign Language and Literature of Tsinghua University.Borrowing the basic principles of Confucianism,new humanism in the US and modern cultural conservatism,he proposed that universities should aim to nurture graduates with a good knowledge of both Chinese and western learning by imparting Greek civilization,Christianity,Confucianism and Indian Buddhism and adopting the effective teaching methods in the East and the West.His ideas on higher education can be regarded as a philosophy including goals,teaching contents and teaching methods which can afford us lessons that merit attention.
