Objective:To explore the correlation between the negative and the positive affect with different stress level and the mediating role of resilience between college stress and affect among college students. Methods:Totally 726 college students completed the College Stress Scale (CSS),College Resilience Scale (CRS),and Positive and Negative Affect Scales (PANAS).According to the CSS mean scores, the students were divided into two groups, namely, high stress group (CSS≥29.9,n =325) and low stress group (CSS <29.9,n =401).Results:The CSS mean score of the students was (29.9 ± 10.1).The scores of PANAS "positive affect" were significantly negatively correlated the scores of PANAS "negative affect" in high-stress group (r =-0.34,P < 0.001),while in low-stress group there was no significant correlation between them (r =-0.06,P >0.05).Resilience functioned as a full mediator between college stress and positive affect and the mediating effect was-0.16,while as a part mediator between college stress and negative affect and the mediating effect was 0.09.Conclusion:The results suggest that the capacity to maintain and preserve the appropriate level of positive and negative affect could benefit to adaptation to stress, and developing resilience may improve positive affect and relieve negative affect.
