摘 要:在高等教育国际化背景下,上海高校大学英语指导委员会对上海24所高校的1万多名学生和500多名教师进行了英语学习需求调查。问卷和访谈发现:①学生用英语进行专业学习的需求日益增长,②学生现有的英语能力达不到专业教师对他们的要求,③学生和专业教师对目前大学教学普遍不满,④大部分学生认为可用ESP替代普通英语,而英语教师的观点相反。在分析结果的基础上,文章提出了几点建议。Against the English Language Teaching backdrop of the internationalization of higher education, Shanghai Advisory Committee on at Tertiary Level conducted a large-scale English language needs survey among lO 000 college students and 500 EFL and discipline teachers questionnaires and interviews, the survey revealed that 1 ) 24 institutions of higher learning in Shanghai. Via English assumes an increasingly facilitating role in students' academic study ; 2) students' English competence is found insufficient to meet the requirements and expectations of their discipline teachers; 3) there is pervasive dissatisfaction with current EFLT among students and discipline teachers; 4) the majority of the students stay positive about substituting EGP with ESP, as contrary to the perceptions of EFL teachers. Based on a detailed analysis of the results, several suggestions are put forward to address the issues in EFLT.
