摘 要:This paper provides an overview of reform efforts made to strengthen elementary science education in the U.S.. To sustain our place as a world leader, it is crucial that the U.S. not only continue to make gains in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, but also for the citizens of the U.S. to have a firm grounding in science and how it applies to their daily lives. This can be attained by having effective, reform-oriented science teachers in all elementary classrooms. This paper discusses research directed towards determining crucial components which influence elementary science methods courses and offer innovative strategies for enhancing the quality of science teacher education programs.
