摘　　要：自主学习是以发展学生的个性为目标,让学生在学习的过程中更好地发挥主动性和积极性,从而使学生成为学习的主体。独立学院学生的英语水平参差不齐,大多数学生英语基础薄弱,自主学习意识不强。阅读和翻译在英语学习的过程中起着至关重要的作用,本文作者以自己所在的学校为例,介绍了自主学习在独立学院大学英文报刊阅读翻译中的实践及意义,笔者还结合了自身工作实践提出了此活动过程中值得注意的问题。In order to develop students＇ personalities and let them become the center of study, autonomous learning makes students initiative and active in the process of learning. English levels of independent college students are different. Lacking the sense of autonomous learning, most of their English are poor. As reading and translating play the important roles in the English learning, the author of this thesis introduces the practice and significance of reading and translating newspapers at the independent college which she works at. Finally, the author puts forward some suggestions for the practice.
