摘　　要：《八月之光》通过对莉娜的人物塑造,彰显身份认同的重要与人性光辉。文章将莉娜同三个有身份认同问题的主要人物——乔、乔安娜、海托华进行对比分析,探讨现代社会个体身份认同危机与异化所造成的精神和肉体折磨,并给异化和身份缺失的个体提供了一条救赎之路。Through comparisons and contrasts between Lena Grove and Joe Christmas, between her and Gail Hightower, between her and Joanna Burden, Light in August explores such themes as the extreme isolation of the individual, the divided and alienated self, the relations between individuals and the community. Through the characterization of Lena Grove, Faulkner alerts people to face up to the identity problem that the isolated and alienated individuals have in the modem world and tries to provide the solutions.
