摘　　要：短语动词的语义具有不可分析性,但从认知语言学的角度分析,短语动词中DOWN的基本义和引申义可以通过意象图式和概念隐喻推断出来。用意象图式理论可以构建短语动词中DOWN的基本义,用概念隐喻理论可以详细解读DOWN在短语动词中的引申义。The meanings of phrasal verbs are not analytical ; however, according to some theories of cognitive linguis- tics, the basic meanings of DOWN in phrasal verbs can be constructed with image schema, and its extended meanings can be explained with conceptual metaphor. The basic meanings and extended meanings of DOWN in phrasal verbs are interpreted with image schema and conceptual metaphor theory in detail.
