摘　　要：本文回应学术英语应"替代"大学英语的主张,从学术英语的定义、我国学术英语教学现状、学术英语与高等教育国际化、学术英语与高中英语教学的关系等入手,讨论中国高校的学术英语教学,认为学术英语作为专门用途英语,须建立在需求分析的基础上,不宜将其作为高校大学英语教学的全部内容。In response to the claim that EAP should ＂replace＂ College English, this paper presents a comprehensive discussion of EAP teaching in China＇s colleges and universities by reviewing the definition of EAP, current situation of EAP teaching, and the relationships between EAP and the internationalization of higher education, and between EAP and high school English teaching. It is argued that as a subdivision of ESP based on needs analysis, EAP should not take the place of College English in China＇s institutions of higher learning.
