摘　　要：近代英国著名汉学家理雅各是第一个系统研究并翻译中国古代经典的学者,其译著《中国经典》至今仍被认为是标准译本。理雅各在《中国经典》中所表现出的"以意逆志"的诠释思想与西方诠释学的"视域融合"不谋而合。从伽达默尔的哲学诠释观出发,分析了理雅各英译儒经时对儒家思想认识的动态变化过程以及这一变化对其翻译的影响,以求能够重新客观地评价理雅各及其翻译。James Legge was the first western scholar who studied and translated Chinese classics systematically and his The Chinese Classics has still been regarded as the authoritative version. ＂Using your thoughts to meet with that scope＂ that James Legge expressed in his interpretation of Confucian classics was coincided with the ＂fusion of hori- zons＂. By analyzing the dynamic changes of James Legge＇ s attitude towards Chinese classical culture, this essay hopes to give an objective evaluation to Legge and his translation.
