摘 要:建立于1896年的南洋公学,先后规划设立师范院、外院、中院、上院;"四院制"在中国近代学制史上的重要意义,历来受到教育史学界的肯定;透过历史文献的梳理,进而对"四院制"的形成确立、衍变调适及其内在机制进行了阐释,呈现了南洋公学"四院制"的规划、实施、衍变的具体历程,以此窥见中国近代新式学堂在学制上的艰难探索与自我调适,以及近代学制在历史形成过程中异常的复杂性和艰巨性。Nanyang College in Shanghai, established in 1896, planned and set up four departments one after another including normal college, primary school, middle school and college department. The great significance of four -department system in the history of Chinese modern educational system has always been confirmed by the academic circles of the educational history. Through the combing of historic documents, the article further elucidates the forming, evolution, adjustment and internal mechanism of the four - department system, thus demonstrating the actual process of its plan- ning, implementation, and evolution. This helps us to get a glimpse of the hard exploration and self - adjustment of contemporary new schools in the aspect of the educational system and the extreme complexity and hardship in the historic forming process of Chinese contemporary educational system.
