摘　　要：《八月之光》所展现出的黑暗、对宗教的狂热、种族迫害、暴力等社会现象,实质是作家潜意识中积极欲望缺失的一种表征。文章从社会现象入手,分析作家对南方的各种潜在欲望,以便更深层次地解读作家对南方的复杂情感。Social phenomena that reflected in Light in August, such as darkness, craze for Puritanism, racial persecution, and violence are factually a kind of superficial characteristics of William Faulkner＇s subconscious desires. The article analyzes the author＇s subconscious desires for Southern America form the aspect of social phenomena, with the aim of getting a further interpretation of author＇s complex feelings for Southern America.
