摘　　要：阅读理解是英语专业四级考试中的一项重要测试内容,要求学生能够运用阅读技能从阅读语境中准确获取信息和推导语篇意义。主位结构的分析是语篇分析中的一种重要方式。通过分析英语专业四级阅读真题,探讨主位和主位推进模式在英语专业四级阅读中的应用,可以更好地促进英语专业阅读教学,提高学生的阅读理解能力。Reading comprehension is an important part in TEM -4 （Test for English Majors -4 ）. It requires students to find out information and infer textual meaning accurately by using reading skills. Thematic analysis is one important approach in discourse analysis. By analyzing themes and thematic progression patterns of texts from TEM - 4 reading, this paper attempts to examine the applicability of the theory of thematic structure in TEM - 4 text analysis in order to improve teaching of reading for English majors and enhance students＇ reading comprehension.
