摘　　要：本文简要回顾了远程教育的发展历程 ,介绍了面向家庭的现代远程教学系统 MDES.系统综合运用卫星网、有线电视网和因特网作为传输平台 ,学校的网络信息中心通过卫星将课件传输到分布在全国各地的有线电视台 ,有线电视台利用当地的 CATV网络将多媒体课件广播到学员家中的计算机上 .网络信息中心以网站的形式向学员提供各种教学服务 .课件制作系统使用可扩展标记语言 XML对多媒体对象进行描述 ,以 HTML +同步控制的形式发布同步多媒体课件 .该系统适合于终身学习 。After reviewing the development of distance education, MDES a family oriented modern distance education system over hybrid asymmetrical networks is presented. Network and Information Center produces courseware and sends it to distant CATV stations through the satellite, and CATV stations deliver the courseware to family computers by cables. To fill the gap between teachers and students, a Web based discussion center is setup, in which they can communicate with each other. Extensible Markup Language (XML) and synchronized mechanism are used in producing synchronized multimedia courseware, which makes it have similar effect as that of the classroom education. MDES is suitable for life long education and shows wide prospect.
