摘　　要：随着我国政治经济体制改革的不断深化 ,中央提出了实施“西部大开发”战略 ,高等教育特别是西部高等教育的发展面临着前所未有的机遇和挑战。没有西部高校的协调发展 ,西部大开发战略就会因为缺乏智力、人才资源而很难成功。西部高等教育应抓住机遇 。With the constant deepening of the political and economic reforms in China, the central government puts forward the strategy of implementing “the Grand Development of the Western Regions”. The higher education, especially that of the western regions, is faced with the unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Without the balanced development of the colleges and universities in the western regions, the West Development could hardly succeed because of the shortage of intelligence and talent resources. The higher education of the western regions should seize the opportunities and play a major role in the grand development of the western regions.
