Purpose To probe the preliminary useful value of register and fusion of CT and MR images in craniocerebral tumor. Methods Eighteen patients with craniocerebral tumor were studied, in which there were 7 meningioma, 6 glioma, and 5 neurinoma, and 7 male, and 11 female. The age of the patients was from 15 to 72 years, and the mean age was 49 years. The CT and MR images were successively acquired in 7 days. CT and MR images were registered, then the cranial bone, vessel, the margin of the lesion, the inner structure of the lesion, the relationship of the lesion with cranial bone, as well as the relationship of the lesion with peripheral vessel were analysed and the registered images were compared with primitive CT and MR images to evaluate the quality and information content. Results The registered images was superior to primitive CT and MR images in the relationship of the lesion with cranial bone and the relationship of the lesion with peripheral vessel, but no advance in demonstration of cranial bone, vessel and the structure of the lesions themselves. Conclusion The registered images can increase diagnostic information in craniocerebral tumor, and should be studied further.
