从书院到学堂:教育与晚清社会文化心态映射

摘  要:晚清教育变革中的书院改学堂,从本质上讲是一场变革传统文化和价值观念的社会改革运动。这场运动中知识精英的教育追求与社会文化心态的变迁关系密切。知识精英的教育追求包括通经致用、中体西用和"物竞天择"三类,这反映了他们教育理念和实践的侧重点不尽相同,分别映射出"思变传统""调和中西"以及"进化变革"的社会文化心态。In the late Qing Dynasty,the reform of academies and schools was essentially a social reform movement that transformed traditional culture and values.The educational pursuit of intellectuals in this movement is closely related to the change of social and cultural mentality.The educational pursuit of intellectuals includes three types:the practical use of the Chinese classics,the employment of western science and technology into Chinese society,and the "natural selection",which reflects the different emphasis of their educational ideas and practices.The three types respectively reflect three social-cultural mentalities:the "tradition of seeking change","reconciling the East and the West"and "evolutionary change".
