摘　　要：英语语音分类是现代语言学和英语语音学中一个基本的重要的理论问题。要使分类具有科学性,关键在于分类的标准必须正确、严密,并在具体分类过程中严格遵守之。何兆熊、梅德明《现代语言学》在英语语音分类中由于分类标准不够严密,因而产生了一些失误。English phonetics classification constitutes a theoretical issue in modern linguistics and English phonetics. To acquire the scientific classification, it is quite critical that we should have a set of correct and meticulous yardsticks for such a classification and we should strictly abide by these yardsticks in practice. Because of inaccurate yardsticks, some slips arise in the book ' Modern Linguistics' compiled by He Zhao - xiong et. al.
