摘　　要：民族性原则是全国科学技术名词审定委员会定名的原则之一,中医药名词英译名的规范工作也应该遵循此原则。本文结合中医药名词特点,主要探讨中医药名词英译名规范民族性原则的意蕴、策略。认为确保翻译质量及准确传达中医药名词科学和文化双重内涵,民族性原则包括汉语拼音的使用不是第一位的,但却是非常必要的。The preservation of the “Cultural Characteristics”is a new principle put forward by the ChinaNational Committee for Terms in Sciences and Technologies （CNCTST）, as a new approach in producing abetter standardization for science and technology terms. Consequently, the standardization of English TCMterms also falls under this category. This work discusses the content and the methods used for translating TCMterms, in accordance with the principle of “ Preserving the Cultural Characteristics ”. The principle of“preserving the cultural characteristics”, although a new one, is vital for maintaining the quality and accuracyof the scientific and cultural intention of the traditional TCM terminology.
