记者招待会汉英口译中英语关系从句的应用研究

摘　　要：本文基于汉英会议口译语料库,对记者招待会汉英口译中英语关系从句的应用进行了较为深入的分析。研究结果表明:(1)由于记者招待会汉英口译作为特殊语域的正式程度,以及英语关系从句的多种语用功能,英语关系从句在记者招待会汉英口译中频繁使用,其应用频率与政府工作报告英译不相上下。(2)为赢得足够时间以处理源语文本的后续信息,并方便听众理解译文,记者招待会汉英口译的译员比政府工作报告的译者更倾向于将并列的两个汉语单句、名词短语和普通汉语单句等汉语结构译作英语关系从句。(3)记者招待会汉英口译中译自汉语关系从句的英语关系从句应用频率不及政府工作报告英译,其主要原因在于前者的汉语关系从句往往不长而且结构较为简单,可译为英语关系从句、介词短语、分词短语等不同结构。而在政府工作报告中,汉语关系从句大多由多个并列的单句或短语组成,结构较为复杂,通常只能译作英语关系从句,有时甚至译作多个英语关系从句。Based on the use of the Chinese-English Conference Interpreting Corpus, this paper investigates the use of English relative clauses in Chinese-English conference interpreting. The results of the investigation show that 1 ） English relative clauses occur with a high frequency in Chinese-English conference interpreting as a result of the for- reality of press conference interpreting and the various pragmatic functions of English relative clauses. 2） In com- parison with the translators of the work report of the Chinese government, the interpreters engaged in Chinese-Eng- lish conference interpreting are more inclined to render two or more coordinated Chinese sentences and Chinese noun phrases into English relative clauses. The purpose in doing so is to gain extra time for processing the source speech and facilitate the listeners＇ understanding of the target speech. 3） The English relative clauses translated from Chinese relative clauses occur with a lower frequency in Chinese-English conference interpreting than in the translation of the work report of the Chinese government, since the Chinese relative clauses are found to be short and simple in the press conference interpreting, and can be rendered into English prepositional and participle phra- ses in addition to English relative clauses. However, in the work report of the Chinese government, the Chinese rel- ative clauses, which are long and complicated, tend to be translated into one or more English relative clauses.
