摘　　要：清末西学东渐运动推动了翻译活动的广泛开展,由于国运危难,当时的译者希望通过翻译引进西方先进思想,促进中国社会的近代转型,因而翻译具有很强的文化功利性。严复所译的《社会通诠》体现了他运用中西批判、求实创新和集思广益的翻译会通思想,其翻译不但介绍了西方社会制度,而且提出了其对晚清社会制度改革的观点。During the period of the late Qing Dynasty, translation played an important role in introducing Western culture. In order to promote the social evolution of China, political purpose became one of the main functions of translation. Through the translation ofA History of Politics, Yan Fu not only introduced Western social institutions but also proposed his viewpoints on Chinese social reformation by adopting unique and effective translation strategies.
