摘　　要：本文立足于生态翻译学理论,以新疆行政区划名称英译为例,提出应从生态翻译学"三维"之"文化维"与"交际维"层面探讨中国少数民族地区地名英译的原则及策略,以此降低因错译、误译带来的不良国际影响,以维护和提升中国少数民族地区的文化形象和品位,并扩大地名英译研究的视野。Based on Eco- translatology,making a case study of translation of names of the administrative divisions of Xinjiang,this paper proposes that translation principle and strategies concerning the place names in minority areas in China should be discussed from the dimensions of culture and communication so as to cushion them from the ill effects throughout the world,and to maintain and improve the cultural image and taste of the minority areas in China,which not only expand the research field of the translation of place names but also provide valuable theoretical reference and practical guidance for the C- E translation of place names in minority areas such as Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region.
