赵元任对语言意义程度的研究

摘　　要：赵元任对语言意义程度的研究可以概括为:语言形式的长短是衡量意义程度的一般标准,这种正比关系是相对的,而非绝对的;语言形式越多样化,意义越丰富;重复和冗余会减少语言的意义;语言使用的频率越高,意义越少。赵元任认为翻译时不可忽视意义程度的影响因素,尤其是频率对意义程度的影响。Zhao Yuan-ren’s researches into degrees of meaning can be summed up in four aspects：the length of forms being essential measure of richness of their meanings;the diversity of forms determining complexity of their meanings;repetition and redundance of forms reducing their meanings;high frequency of a form use reducing its meaning.It is hold by Chao that these aspects,especially frequency of form uses affecting the degrees of meanings,cannot be neglected in translations.
