摘　　要：英国中世纪神秘连环剧以圣经为主要材料来源,但是戏剧并未附庸圣经而丧失创造性。剧作者在改编圣经时进行了大胆灵活、颇具匠心的处理,包括精心删减和增补圣经材料,将选出的材料戏剧化、喜剧化和同时代化。通过这样的处理,原有的圣经内容以不一样的面目和意蕴出现,服务于剧作者宗教、娱乐、商业等多重意图。这一事实为评判英国中世纪神秘连环剧的艺术价值提供了根基。Although the main source of English mystery cycles was the Bible, the plays had not lost their creativity because of closing to the Bible. The dramatists dealt with the sources boldly, flexibly, and skillfully. They omitted or added the biblical materials elaborately and made the chosen materials dramatic, comic and cotemporary, so that the original content in Bible appeared different so as to fulfill the dramatist＇s multiple intentions such as religious, entertained and commercial. This fact offered a foundation to appreciate the artistic value of English medieval mystery cycles.
