摘　　要：基于中国少数民族地区地名英译现状,文章从社会语言学出发,依据社会语言学的重要论题——语言政策,以新疆行政区划名称英译为例,探讨中国少数民族地区地名英译的原则及策略,扩大了地名英译研究的视野,为新疆、西藏等中国少数民族地区的地名英译工作提供参考和借鉴,对于维护民族团结和社会稳定,提升中国少数民族语言的国际地位,保护"中国非物质文化遗产",宣传中国少数民族文化等方面有着重要意义。Based on the status quo of C-E translation of place names in minority areas in China, the paper makes a case study on the names of the administrative divisions of Xinjiang and discusses the translation principles and techniques of place names in minority areas in China from the perspective of s0ciolinguistics in accordance with the Language Policy the important proposition of sociolinguistics, aiming at providing reference for the C-E translation of place names in the minority areas in China such as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region, and playing a significant role in maintaining the solidarity of the nationalities and social stability, improving the international status of China＇s minority languages, safeguarding the intangible Cultural Heritage and spreading China＇s minority cultures.
