摘  要:以何种理论来指导英语教学并解决实际问题,这一直是中小学阶段的重大科研课题。笔者通过评介《中国环境下的英语教学研究》一书,着重探讨该书致力于建设具有中国特色的英语教学理论体系,并依据中国现实教学环境,找出理论与实践的结合点;其中一个重要启示是,为避免英语教学研究走向偏激化,教师寻求最优解决方案时,采取中庸思想作为基本原则是切实可行的。文章认为,该书具有继承创新、兼容并蓄的特点,从多维角度解读了我国的中小学英语教学,是广大英语教师和研究者的重要参考。Establishing a match between employing theories and a variety of local practices is one of the major tasks of research on English teaching and learning at primary and secondary levels in China. By reviewing the book Studies on English Teaching in China, this paper outlines the main issues discussed in the book and focuses on its effort to develop a set of theories which is suitable for the local teaching practices and to endeavour to find the interface between theory and practice. Finally, this review appreciates ~that the book, based on logical reasoning and empirical research, not only provides a lucid exposition of English teaching in China but also pursues the goal of the Doctrine of the Mean as both teaching and researching principles.
