摘　　要：文章从学界关于高校分类与定位关系的分歧点入手,以高校分类与高校定位的相关性为视角,指出高校学科水平分类是高校类型定位的前提,高校分类对高校定位具有指导能力,高校分类明确不能得出高校就定位准确的结论,并对高校科学分类合理定位提出了设想。Classification seems to be the basis of the reasonable orientation of colleges and universities confronting unclear orientation and convergence development during the development of Chinese colle-ges and universities.On the basis of differences between the classification and orientation of colleges and universities in the academic circle,the essay illustrates that overlapping logical relationships as well as a number of irrelevant and some overlapped areas which reveal that the classification of disci-pline level is the premise of type orientation of colleges and universities lie in between them from the perspective of the relevance of the classification to orientation of colleges and universities.In the end the author presents ideas on scientifical classification and reasonable orientation of colleges and univer-sities.
