摘 要:捐资办学是近代华侨作为中华民族一分子爱国意识的体现,也是其自觉、主动维护和传承中华历史传统文化的具体表达。对身处异域的近代华侨而言,教育功能在特定时空下被赋予了新的内涵,兴学重教正是他们对教育的社会价值与育人功能的认知不断深化的结果。探究其深层的文化动因,其中故乡情怀的归属感、宗亲意识乡土情结、兴国救国的责任感、文化传承的使命感等,是他们长期捐资办学和近代华侨教育持续发展的内在动力、根源。Donating school is the reflection of the modern overseas Chinese patriotic consciousness as members of the Chinese nation, as well as the specific expression of their cultural consciousness for maintaining and inheriting the historical tradition of the Chinese nation. In terms of the modern overseas Chinese, the function of education is endowed with new connotation under the specific time and space. So establishing schools is resulted from their deepening cognition on educational social value and educating function. The reasons for overseas Chinese caring for education in their hometown are that the strong sense of belonging for homeland, the responsibility of the Chinese nation, the sense of mission for Chinese cultural heritage, as well as the clan consciousness, which are their inner power to attach importance on education and the continuing development of the oversea Chinese education in modern times.
