摘　　要：地方工科院校实施短学期制是实行学期制度改革的重要举措。短学期的设置有利于强化实践教学,培养学生创新与实践能力,提高学生发现问题、分析问题、解决问题的能力;有利于加深学生对社会的认识,增强学生体验社会现实、参与社会服务的意识与责任心;有利于优化课程体系、合理优化配置教学资源,为学生提供更加丰富、优质的各类课程;利于建立开放办学的机制,促进广大师生参加国内、国际交流等,对地方工科院建立现代大学教学管理制度具有重要和深远的意义。Local engineering colleges implement the short semester system is an important measure to implement the term system reform. Short term is beneficial to strengthen the practice of teaching, to cultivate students’ innovation ability and practice ability, problem analysis, problem solving ability, deepen students’ understanding of society, enhance students’ experience of social reality, participate in the social service consciousness and sense of responsibility, optimize the curriculum system, provide more abundant resources to optimizing teaching, high quality, various courses for students, establish mechanism of opening school, promote teachers and students to participate in domestic, international exchanges, has important and far-reaching significance of modern university teaching management system of local engineering institute.
