摘　　要："Will"基于其丰富的情态意义,在英文商务书信中实现了多种元话语功能,其汉译与其在具体语境中所执行的元话语功能密切相关。识别和了解"will"作为元话语标记的功能特点可以帮助我们加强元话语的使用能力,为英文商务书信的读、写、译提供一定借鉴。“Will”, based on its rich modal meanings, realizes various functions of metadiscourse in English busi-ness letters. Its Chinese translation is closely related to the functions that it has performed in specific contexts. I-dentifying and understanding the functional features of “will” as a metadiscourse marker may help us enhance our ability in applying metadiscourse, and thus, provide reference for the reading, writing and translation of English business letters.
