摘 要:通过语料库对比分析的方法探究了中国非英语专业大学生英语作文中情态动词使用的特点及与美国本族语学生的差异。研究发现:中国大学生使用情态动词的频率总体明显高于本族语学生;中国大学生和本族语学生一样倾向于较多使用中低阶情态动词;中国大学生单个情态动词的使用与本族语学生差异较大,使用偏好与本族语学生存在异同;不同水平的中国大学生情态动词使用情况差别不大,但还是体现出"愈高愈接近"趋势。针对这些研究发现,提出了一些教学建议。By adopting a contrastive corpus-based method, the present article reports non-native features in the use of modal verbs in EFL learners' compositions and investigates in what ways EFL learners differ from native English-speaking university students in terms of their use of modal verbs. The results show that 1 ) Chinese EFL learners generally overuse modal verbs;2 ) Chinese EFL learners tends to use more verbs of low and intermediate modality, which is the same with their foreign counterparts;3 ) in terms of the use of each individual modal verb, Chinese EFL learners differs greatly from native students, but as for their preference, there are both similarities and differences between them ;4) EFL learners at different proficiency levels share the same features and the tendency is clear that the higher levels they have, the closer they are to their native counterparts in the use of modal verbs. Some teaching suggestions are given at the end.
