Muramidase was combined with chitosan to enhance the antibacterial effects on three model bacterias(Escherichia coli(E.coli),Staphylococcus aureus(St.aureus)and Candida albicans(C.albicans)). First, the acetic acid concentration to dissolve chitosan was chosen by the bacteriostatic circle tested; Then, the minimal concentration of chitosan and muramidase were determined by 2-fold diluent method, and the best ratio of two component were determined by quantitative methods;finally, the growth curves of three bacteria was carried out through enzymelabeled immunosorbent assay. The results showed that chitosan with 1 % acetic acid had the best antibacterial effects. The MIC of chitosan to E.coli,St.aureus and C.albicans was 0.1562 mg/mL. The MIC of muramidase to E.coli,St.aureus and C.albicans were 0.625 mg/mL,1.25 mg/m and 1.25 mg/mL,respectively. The antibacterial effect of the compound is significantly higher than single chitosan solution and lysozyme solution. The compound inhibition effect was showed on the logarithmic phase of E.coli and St.aureu. Moreover, the growth curve of C.albicans changed directly from lag phase to stable phase.
