摘　　要："现代性"是《邱园记事》贯穿全文的中心线索。首先,运用印象派绘画技巧来描述邱园的美丽,这是现代性艺术手法的独特表现;其次,通过四组人物和他们的对话揭示了现代人的精神困境;再次,通过对邱园的"臆想"之美,展现了审美现代性与社会现代性之间的张力;最后,通过"声音"的呐喊希望用审美的方式摆脱现代性给人们带来的精神困境。＂Modernity＂is the central line going through Kew Gardens. Firstly,it is the specific expression of modern art to describe the beauty of the kew garden with the technique of impressionistic school; secondly,the spiritual predicament of modern people is disclosed through the four groups of people and dialogues between them; thirdly,the tension between aesthetic and social modernity is unfolded through the ＂imagined＂beauty of the kew garden; lastly,through the hurly- burly of the noise,the author hoped to cast off the spiritual predicament brought by modernity through aesthetical way.
