摘　　要：大学作为一种"知识制度化"的场所,其社会责任的方向、路径和践行机制受制于一定社会的关系结构、制度安排及其文化禀赋。西方大学社会责任的变迁史表明,社会转型期的大学总是通过其职能及其价值取向的调整而重新定位发展方向,坚守"高深学问"的使命价值,并通过制度上的架构获得长久发展,担负起促进人类文明进步和社会发展的社会责任。回溯和鸟瞰西方大学社会责任演变的历史逻辑,以寻找和合理定位我国大学社会责任的价值基础、现实路径,对于在全面深化高等教育综合改革中提升我国大学履责能力与水平具有重要意义。The orientation, path and realization of the social responsibilities of university as an establishment of knowledge institutionalizationare subject to the relational structure, institutional structure, and culture of society. The evolution of Western university＇s social responsibilities shows that universities in a social transition period tend to reorient their own development by readjusting their missions and values, and by sticking to the mission of spreading profound knowledge through a proper institutional framework, thus promoting social development and human civilization. A retrospect of the evolution of Western university＇s social responsibilities may assist in positioning and defining the underpinning values and the realization of the social responsibilities of universities in China, which, in turn, contribute to the further reform of higher education and the ability of universities in China to fulfill their social responsibilities.
