摘　　要：小说《大宅》反映了福克纳对美国南方群体命运的彷徨。出于对旧贵族无法抵御资本新贵蚕食南方社会的失望,小说选择具有暴力反抗精神的穷白人明克向资本家弗莱姆·斯诺普斯复仇,又安排明克在复仇成功后孑然一身地死亡。这折射出作家既希望利用下层阶级反抗遏制工商资本势力的膨胀,又对阶级斗争感到恐惧的复杂心理。The Mansion is an expression of William Faulkner＇s restless meditations on the fate of American South. Due to the disappointment of old aristocrats who failed to resist the bourgeoisie＇s encroachment of the community, the author chooses Mink Snopes, a poor ＂ white trash＂ to terminate Flem Snopes, the aggressive capitalist, and arranges Mink＇s death after the revenge. The story tells the author＇s complicated desires. On the one hand, he wants the lower class to rebel and contain the capitalist group; on the other hand, he is afraid of the occurrence of probable class struggle in American South.
