摘　　要：自从19世纪末20世纪初日本禅师首先去美国弘扬佛法一个多世纪以来,美国设立了专门的佛教机构,从事佛典翻译、传播禅宗的道场吸引了包括诗人在内的不同行业的美国人去学禅或参禅。20世纪50年代中期,以金斯堡为首的垮掉派诗人普及佛教,使美国禅宗诗歌得到进一步的发展。美国禅宗诗大致可分为四类:脱离凡俗、削发为僧的出家洋和尚诗人,出家的禅师诗人和受过戒的诗人,一批曾经或现在仍跟从禅师参禅或跟从法师打坐、对禅宗或佛教深有研究和体会而又过着世俗生活的诗人,对禅宗或佛教感兴趣但无执着追求的一批诗人。Many Buddhist dharma institutions have been set up,ever since Japanese Zen masters first initiated Buddha dharma in the United States at the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century. Americans from all walks of life,including poets,are drawn to Bodhimanda institutions specialized in Buddhist scripture translation and Buddha dharma promotion,to study and practice meditation and dhyana. In the mid- 1950 s,poets of the Beat Generation led by Allen Ginsberg committed themselves to Buddhist propagation,which greatly pushed forward American Zen poetry. American Zen poets mainly fall within four categories,namely,Buddhist monk poets who tried to get rid of secular life and had themselves shaved; ordained Zen and votarist poets; poets who have followed and / or are still following Zen masters to practice meditation and dhyana,and who,despite of their secular life manners,attained great accomplishments in Buddhist and Zen researches; and poets who were interested in Buddhism and Zen without much devoted pursuit.
