摘　　要：原型批评理论是一种重要的文学批评形式,旨在探寻文学文本内在的相似性和象征性。"冰山原则"是海明威的重要创作手法,其简洁的文风为后来的研究者提供了广阔的阐释空间,《老人与海》完美地体现了这一风格。从原型批评理论出发,可以更好地分析《老人与海》的圣经原型和象征意义,揭示其冰山水下部分的深刻内涵。从原型批评理论分析文学作品的象征意义有利于加深对文学作品的认识,推动文学批评的发展。Prototype criticism is an important form of literary criticism,which aims to explore the inner likelinessand symbolism of the literary works.＇Iceberg principle＇ is Hemingway＇s prominent writing technique,whose concise writing style offers a vast room to interpret for the following researchers,and The Old Man and the Sea embodies this style thoroughly.The theory of prototype criticism offers a good way to analyze the biblical prototype and symbolism of The Old Man and the Sea and to reveal the profound symbolic meanings of the iceberg hidden below the water.Exploring the symbolic meaning of the literary works in the light of the theory of prototype criticism is helpful for deepening people＇s cognition of literary works and promoting the development of the literary criticism.
