摘　　要：本研究考察了元话语语言互动资源之一的模糊限制语在中国理工科博士生学术写作中的使用特征。研究通过与国际期刊学者论文语料的对比,发现理工科博士生同期刊论文作者相比,在使用模糊限制语的类型及词汇选择上均有差异;就学科而言,理科博士生比工科博士生在使用模糊限制语方面存在更大的问题与困难。本研究同时为英语作为外语的学术论文写作教学提供启示及借鉴作用。This study reports an investigation of the use of hedges as one of the main categories of interactional metadiscourse in academic writing by Chinese doctoral students of science and engineering. The findings reveal that the student writers at advanced level show similarities and differences in using hedges in terms of frequency and type when compared with the journal article writers. Compared with doctoral students of engineering, doctoral students of science have encountered more difficulties in using hedges. The characteristics and difficulties in using hedges to signal the student writers＇ presence are also represented as well. Pedagogical implications and suggestions on L2 academic writing instructions are provided at the end of the research.
