摘 要:方东美认为西方哲学不重视时间问题,往往将时间空间化,这导致他们没有承续的历史,而中国哲学,尤其是儒家的《周易》则非常注重时间问题。相比于循环的时间观和线性的时间观,他将《周易》的时间观念概括为"回旋变易",这一时间观集循环的时间观和线性的时间观的优点于一体,不仅使得中国历史呈现出接续性,而且对于儒家精神人格的培养以及中华文化在其演变中价值的保持和发扬光大都至关重要。Fang Dongmei (1899-1977) contends that Western philosophy does not pay attention to the issue of time, and tends to convert time into space, which resulted in their having no continuously inherited history; in contrast, Chinese phi losophy, especially the Confucian Zhou yi (Book of changes) place considerable emphasis on the issue of time. Comparing the view regarding time as a cycle and the view regarding time as a line, he holds that the view of time in the Zhou yi can be summed up as "loop and change ," a view synthesizes the advantages of both the schema mentioned above, which not only makes Chinese history manifest its continuity, but also can significantly contribute to the formation of Confucian character and to the preservation and development of the value of Chinese culture in its evolution.
