河南农业高校开展专门用途英语教学的必要性分析

摘　　要：以新发布的《大学英语教学指南》为导向,将英语课程定位于为学校办学目标、院系人才培养目标和学生个性化发展提供服务。目前河南农业高校的大学英语教学现状仍存在着教学内容与中等学校教学内容重复、与学生实际专业需求和工作需求脱节、课程设置仍停留在通用英语和通识教育层面等问题。根据国家发展、省情特色以及农业高校办学发展方向等,河南省农业高校的大学英语教学改革方向应符合农业科技人才培养的需要,即在兼顾通用英语教育的基础上,突出农业方面的专门用途英语教育。According to the newly-launched College English Teaching Guide , it is emphasized that col-lege English teaching should coordinate with the goals of universities and educational purpose of depart-ments ,as well as the students 5 demands on academic and occupational developments. However, prob-lems still exist in college English teaching in agricultural universities in Henan ： duplicate content, divor-ce between students ’ professional demands and real job requirements, and curriculum setting of EGP （English for General Purpose） and general education. Based on a thorough study of national policy, the provincial conditions of Henan, and the need analysis, the direction of college English teaching reform in agricultural universities in Henan should be accorded with the demands of cultivating elites in agriculture. Therefore, ESP （English for Specific Purposes） should be highlighted on the foundation of EGP in agri-cultural universities.
