摘　　要：捐赠讲席制度是西方一流大学利用社会捐赠吸引和留住国际顶尖学者、促进学术发展、增强社会影响力的有效模式。捐赠讲席教授这一头衔既被认为是学者的至高荣誉,也是对为学校做出贡献的教授的极大奖励。本文对国内外一流大学捐赠讲席制度的起源、价值及现状进行了梳理,在此基础上建议国内高等院校合理有效地利用捐赠讲席制度,吸引世界顶尖科研人才,充分利用社会资源发展高等教育。Endowed Professorship, which has a long history in western universities, has been an effective mode to attract and retain outstanding scholars who are expected to make enormous contributions to top-class universities through their academic research and enhance the social impact of universities. Endowed Professorship is regarded as both great honor and award to the holders. It also helps to increase the endowment fund to universities and provide an ideal charity opportunity for the donors. This paper introduces the origin, value and current status of endowed chair or professorship in top-class universities and suggests that Chinese universities make the best use of this institution to recruit and retain top-notch scholars.
