摘　　要：通过对孙诒让在温州瑞安创办的瑞平化学学堂的缘起以及办学宗旨的考察，揭示了以孙诒让为代表的一批爱国知识分子，把弘扬我国传统文化、、倡导学校教育事业为一生职志，诠释了当时的“中学为体，西学为用”的原则。By studying the origin and missions of RuiPing Chemical School which was founded by Sun Yiran in Ruian of Wenzhou, we found a number of patriotic intellectuals represented by Sun Yirang, who regarded carrying forward the traditional Chinese culture and promoting the school education career as a lifetime dream, and interpreted the ＂traditional Chinese values as fundamental structure, western learning for use＂ at that time.
