美国高校更名的内生逻辑探析——以密苏里州立大学为例

摘　　要：美国的公立高校系统,曾有过3次大规模的更名热潮:20世纪20年代的师范学校更名为教师学院、20世纪50年代教师学院更名为综合性学院和20世纪70年代学院更名为大学。身处其中的密苏里州立大学,其更名历程在美国公立大学中具有一定的代表性。本文通过剖析密苏里州立大学历史上的4次更名,提出了美国高校更名的五种内生逻辑:学校应对社会政治经济变革的主动选择;摆脱校名混淆的尴尬;学校外延式扩张的推动;学校内涵提升的实至名归以及富有进取心校长的积极决策,以期为理性看待我国高校更名的"热潮"提供一种思路。There had been three times of large-scale Normal schools were renamed to Teachers Colleges in the Comprehensive Colleges in the 1950s and the College c renaming boom in American public university system： 1920s,then the Teachers Colleges were renamed to the hanged its name to the University in the 1970s. The renaming history of Missouri State University （MSU）has a certain representative significance among public universities in United States. This paper attempts to explore the five inherent logics of American public higher institutions by analyzing the four times of renaming in the history of MSU：the active choice to face the social political and economic change ,the effort to get rid of the embarrassment of the confusing name with other universities, the promotion of the extensive expansion and the connotative development of the universities, and the positive decision made by an aggressive president as well. The purpose of this paper is to provide a rational hint for us to treat this phenomenon.
