摘  要:在英语国家的中国古典戏剧研究中,戏剧文本是一大难题。戏剧文本的翻译工作有待进一步推进和优化。以明代剧作家汤显祖的《牡丹亭》唱词为封闭语料,抽取出含颜色词"红"的语料38例,与汪榕培2000年的英译本逐一进行比对研究,总结出了一部成熟戏剧译本的翻译规律与值得借鉴之处。汪榕培在《牡丹亭》"红"的英译中使用了很多隐喻、转喻、文化顺应策略。此外,利用做脚注、附录等方法注明词汇的文化内涵,能够帮助读者更快、更好地理解整句唱词的意义。Reading drama texts is a big problem in English speaking countries, Chinese classical drama study. The job of drama text translation needs to be optimized. THE PEONY PAVILION is a world - famous Chinese drama composed by Tang Xianzu in the Ming Dynasty, from which 38 sentences containing color word “ Hóng (red)” could be extracted. This paper has compared the 38 Chinese sentences with Prof. Wang Rongpei’s translation in 2000, trying to discover and conclude a number of rules and advantages in a successful translation. Prof. Wang used three translation strategies in his translation, such as metaphor, metony-my and culture adjustment. In addition, other translation strategies, such as making footnotes and appendix of culturally - loaded words & expressions could help readers to understand the whole libretto quicker as well as better.
