摘　　要：【作家简介】华盛顿·欧文（Washington Irving，1783-1859）是美国作家和外交家，出生于纽约一个商人家庭。欧文自小热爱文学，尤其是冒险故事和戏剧，曾读过《鲁宾逊漂流记》和《格列佛游记》，还经常去剧院看戏。欧文曾做过一段时间律师，但对法律兴趣不大，后来他放弃法律，从事文学创作，1809年发表《纽约外史》（AHistoryof NewYork），以诙谐的笔调和丰富的想象力再现了纽约的风土人情。1.
