《围城》英译中欠额翻译现象探析——以珍妮·凯利和茅国权合译译本为例  

The Phenomenon of Under-translation in the English Version of “Fortress Besieged”——Taking Jeanne Kelly and Mao Guoquan's Version as Example

摘　　要：《围城》是著名作家钱钟书所著的长篇小说,享誉海内外,文章以欠额翻译为切入点,以珍妮·凯利和茅国权的英译本为例,用实例阐述《围城》译本中的欠额翻译现象。由于文化内涵、民族色彩以及语言结构的差别,《围城》翻译中欠额翻译普遍存在。文章提出通过语境增益,音译加注法,异化和归化等策略,可以达到规避欠额翻译的目的。＂ Fortress Besieged＂ is a famous novel written by Qian Zhongshu. Taking the under-translation phenomenon in Jeanne Kelly and Mao Guoquan＇ s Version as target, it is argued that under-translation is popular considering the inequivalence of cultural connota- tion, national colors and linguistic structure. To avoid under-translation, strategies, such as adding contexts, annotated transliteration, foreignization and localization, should be employed.
