摘  要:"文质之辨"涉及"人"与"文"的张力,乃涵摄《论语》全书精义的又一重大分辨。文章结合"仁"与"质""文"的关系,从理想的君子人格的养成和良善社会风尚的培壅两个角度,再度探询了"文质彬彬"的确切内涵、致取之途。一方面,就理想的君子人格的养成来说,所谓"彬彬",意味着每个人身上"仁"的端倪("质")经由种种人为之"文"的润泽而达到相当高卓的境界("文""质"互成而至无过不及);另一方面,就社会文化风尚的培壅来说,所谓"彬彬",则是意味着百姓身上那点"仁"心("质")受到为政者的种种引导和教化这一"文"的熏陶,结果社会风气的良善臻于醇化("文""质"互成而至无过不及)。To distinguish between "culture" and "nature" involves the tension between "human" and "culture". It is a ma- jor discussion about the important content of The An^aL ec ts o "Tcultivation of gentleman's personality and of good social customs. First, it means that with the effects of "culture", the bud of "Ren" in everybody, which is the "nature", can reach the most brilliant level so that the "culture" and the "nature" in a man help and perfect each other, and neither is too much or too little. Second, it means that the bud of "Ren" in the ruled, which is also called the "nature", is influenced by the ruler's guide and civilization, which is also called the "culture". As a result, social customs turn better and better, and can even reach the highest level, so that the "culture" and the "nature" in social customs help and perfect each other, and neither is too much or too little.
