摘 要:从1847年决定翻译中国"十三经"开始直至1897年逝世,理雅各的翻译工作从未间断。在长达半个世纪的译经历程中,理雅各的翻译思想并非是一成不变的。早期的理雅各抱着东学西传以及通过翻译中国传统经典向来华传教士介绍中国传统思想、伦理道德的想法来翻译中国经典,之后,理雅各的个人思想产生了变化,强烈地向中国传播基督教,反映到翻译思想上,就是通过1871的《诗经》翻译中对孔子哲学思想的批判来重构翻译思想,以达到他利用《诗经》翻译来传播基督教的目的。而在经过身份、经历、观念等方面的变化之后,理雅各对孔子有了重新的认识,进而探求用基督教和儒家学说相结合的方式来重译《诗经》。James Legge has been devoted to the translaton of Chinese classics, from t 1847 when he decided to translate Chinese Classics to 1897 when he died. In his translating career of 50 years, his translation thought has somewhat changed. Initially, he translated Chinese classics in an attemp to spread Chinese culture to the West and introduce Chinese tradition, ethics to the missionaries who came to China. Later, however, his personal thought changed. To spread Christianity to China, he reconstructed his translation thought by eritieising Confucius when translating She King in1871. With the changing of identity, experience and eoneept, James Legge got a new understanding of Confneius and therefore, he started to retranslate She King by combining Christianity and Confucianism.
